Prepares
Plans

Specifications
for:
a. Infrastructure (Storm and Sanitary Sewer) Improvements
b. Land Development (i.e. Parks and Open Space)
c. Road Improvements
e. Traffic and Signal Improvements
-
Administers
and
manages
construction
and
consultant
contracts
associated
with
utility
and
other
municipal
improvement
projects.
-
Provides
technical
assistance
to
other
City
Departments
and
Agencies.
-
Makes
recommendations
on
plans
for
future
projects
and
City
developments.
-
Prepares
Street
Maps,
Ward
Maps,
and
Drug
Free
Zone
Maps
-
Prepares
Grant
Applications
for
funding
of
road
improvements
projects,
clean
up
of
contaminated
sites,
park
developments,
etc.
-
Provides
traffic
reviews
and
recommendations
on
specific
traffic
related
problems.
-
Oversees the
preparation
of Tax Maps
prepared by
Consultant
Surveyor.
The Department
of Engineering
issues permits
for the
following:
a. Street
Openings
b. Curb and
Sidewalk
Construction
c. Crane
Placement
d. Dumpster
placement
e. Installation
of Fiber Optic
Cable
In
addition,
the
Department
reviews
applications
for
encroachment
on
Public
Right-of-Way,
Non-Emergency
Street
Closings
and
Traffic
Detour
Plans.
The
Department
of
Engineering
provides
technical
assistance
to the

Boards
and
Commissions:

Traffic
Commission

Accident
Review
Board
3.
Planning
Board
and
Board of
Adjustment
Division
of
Traffic
&
Lighting
Maintains
the
City's
elaborate
traffic
signal
system
and
street
signage
inventory.
