Be A Fire Fighter!
The New Brunswick Fire Department is distributing applications for the 2006 fire fighter examination that will be administered by the New Jersey Department of Personnel. The application deadline is August 31, 2006.
"We need dedicated, quality people who can perform the strenuous and critical task of fighting fires. Without question this is one of the most important jobs that the city does and we need the very best people as candidates," said Fire Director Robert McLaughlin.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old by the filing date, be a resident of New Brunswick, have a high school diploma, and a valid New Jersey driver's license.
Applications are available now online and at the city's personnel office in City Hall (78 Bayard Street), the New Brunswick Free Public Library ( Livingston Avenue)and all city firehouses (93 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, Burnet Street and Bartlett and Wykoff Streets). Applications are due to be filed with the state Department of Personnel by April 30. There is a $35 examination fee due with the application. The fire exam consists of three parts - a cognitive test, teamwork assessment, and physical performance.
