Traffic and Parking

The Department of Engineering issues permits for the following:

  1. Street Openings
  2. Curb and Sidewalk Construction
  3. Crane Placement
  4. Dumpster placement
  5. Installation of Fiber Optic Cable

In addition, the Department reviews applications for encroachment on Public Right-of-Way, Non-Emergency Street Closings and Traffic Detour Plans.

The Department of Engineering provides technical assistance to the following Boards and Commissions:

  1. Traffic Commission
  2. Accident Review Board
  3. Planning Board and Board of Adjustment

Division of Traffic & Lighting

Maintains the City's elaborate traffic signal system and street signage inventory. Residents who wish to report a faulty traffic signal or damaged/missing street signage should call (732)745-5054.
