What is it?

Buy It Fix It (BIFI) The BIFI program provides a "soft-second" deferred loan of up to $20,000 to repair substandard conditions in boarded up homes. The City will also assist you in finding a lender who will allow you to purchase the home in substandard condition and fund additional repair costs.

CDBG Emergency Repair Program The CDBG program provides a grant of up to $6,000 to repair substandard roofs and heating system in homes owned by low or moderate income homeowners.
CDBG Sidewalk Repair Program The City of New Brunswick currently has a sidewalk repair program to assist low and moderate income homeowners (1 and 2 family homes) defray the cost of maintaining their sidewalk.
HARP-Homeowner Affordable Rehabilitation Program The HARP program provides a "soft-second" deferred loan of up to $20,000 to repair substandard conditions in homes owned by low or moderate income homeowners.

Program eligibility can only be determined by the rehab staff after an application has been filed and income verifications are made.
