TORCH

On April 3rd the New Brunswick Fire Department's Division of Fire Safety adopted Torch, a male Chocolate Labrador/ Pointer from St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in North Branch New Jersey.

Torch and his handler Frank Abbate immediately began an intensive 10-week training course with the New Jersey State Police and on June 9, 2000. Torch is now trained to sniff out accelerants, and has been involved in many successful investigations to determine the cause of fires both in New Brunswick and throughout Middlesex County.

Both Torch and Inspector Abbate regularly visit area schools to teach children about fire safety. To find out more about how your class can meet Torch please call 732-745-5085.
