Water System Maintenance Scheduled for College Avenue Neighborhood on June 21
Underground water main valves will be turned and fire hydrants will be flushed on several City streets on Thursday, June 21. This is part of maintenance procedures of our water distribution system, performed by New Brunswick Water Utility staff.
Valves will be turned and some fire hydrants flushed between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the following areas:
Central Avenue
Prosper Street
College Avenue
Hamilton Street
Louis Street
Nearby side streets may also be affected during this time.
During these maintenance procedures, residents may experience low pressure or water discoloration, caused by the dislodging of iron deposits in water mains through flushing.
Water remains safe for use, but the New Brunswick Water Utility advises against running hot water or washing laundry while discoloration is present, as iron deposits may build up in hot water heaters or stain laundry.
