NBFD Promotes Two Firefighters to New Leadership Ranks
Two firefighters with the New Brunswick Fire Department were promoted to new leadership roles during a March 19 ceremony at City Hall.
Firefighter Alexander Eristavi, a 23-year veteran of the fire department, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
Lieutenant Michael Dillon, who has served with the fire department since the year 2000, was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Lieutenant Eristavi has earned certifications from the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety in a number of areas dealing with fire response, incident management and emergency medical response.
He has also earned a number of awards for his service, including two life-saving medals; four Grand Cordon Unit Citations and the Fire Director’s Achievement Award from the New Brunswick Fire Department. He was recognized with a New Jersey state FMBA Valor Award, Group Effort Medical for helping to rescue a man who suffered a heart attack in 2011.
As Lieutenant, Captain Dillon helped to lead Engine Company 5, Third Platoon and Engine Company 1, Fourth Platoon. He is also a trained professional in several fire response and rescue fields, serving as a technician in water rescue, swift water rescue and motor vehicle extrication, as well as a Fire Instructor Level 1.
He is also an EMT and certified in Fire Safety Culture via the National Fire Academy.
