Help with Outdoor Spring Cleaning and Volunteer as a Block Captain!

New Brunswick City Council member Glenn Fleming and New Brunswick Recycling Coordinator Donna Caputo present a certificate of appreciation to Erin Connolly, chair of the New Brunswick Environmental Commission.

The New Brunswick Clean City Block Captains program is looking for new members to join our volunteer litter cleanup team for 2019!

Block Captains are responsible for conducting litter clean-ups on their block throughout the year. They are also asked to spread litter reduction awareness among their neighborhoods to help keep our streets clean.  All New Brunswick community members are welcome to be part of this important program.

At the annual Block Captains meeting this week, Recycling Coordinator Donna Caputo recognized five residents who have helped to make environmental programs in New Brunswick a success – Al Klem; Environmental Commission Chair Erin Connolly; and Hector, Lorena and Avril Perez.

The City provides Block Captains with bags, gloves and educational materials in both English and Spanish along with technical support from the City of New Brunswick to aid in the clean-up process.

Volunteers can sign up at any time. For more information, please call the Division of Clean Communities at (732) 745-5245 or email NBEC@cityofnewbrunswick.org.
