Public Information Meeting on June 6 to Discuss renewableNB Program
A public information meeting regarding the City of New Brunswick’s new renewableNB program will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6 in Council Chambers of City Hall, 78 Bayard Street.
The City of New Brunswick has awarded a contract to Direct Energy Services that will yield a lower rate for residential electrical energy supply. The primary goals of the program are to provide annual savings and rate stability for participating consumers, while including a higher percentage of green renewable energy, making the city a leader in carbon footprint reduction in the state.
The program term begins with meter readings in July 2019 and extends for 17 months, to December 2020. Enrollment in the new program is automatic for all residents, unless they opt out or have already contracted with a third-party energy supplier. The opt out period is May 20 – June 19.
To clarify the features and benefits of the program and answer questions, representatives from the City, Good Energy and Direct Energy Services will be in attendance. Spanish-speaking representatives will also be on hand.
