The New Brunswick Police Department has four new officers among its ranks following a June 11 ceremony at City Hall.

Officers Carlos Gomez, Deanna Maldonado, Andy Rodriguez and Liborio Ursino, III graduated last week from the Cape May County Police Academy, a training facility that puts new officers through 21 weeks of intensive training and study related to law enforcement and public safety. Their assignments with the department began immediately.

"The New Brunswick Police Department is one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in the entire state of New Jersey," said Mayor Jim Cahill. " This is due to the leadership and foresight of Director Caputo, who has provided for the continued growth and development of a proficient department that is accomplished in the changing demands of modern police work.  These new officers will join a skilled team of law enforcement professionals that will teach and guide them well as they acclimate to their new careers."
