Roosevelt School Safety Patrol Officers Sworn in during City Hall Ceremony
New Brunswick Mayor Jim Cahill leading the new class of Roosevelt School Safety Patrol Officers in the Pledge of Service
The rainy and blustery weather outside didn't dampen the spirits of those inside New Brunswick City Hall on Thursday morning as 14 fifth-grade students from Roosevelt School were sworn in as Safety Patrol Officers for the 2019-2020 school year. Joined by parents and teachers, the students assembled in City Council chambers for a formal swearing-in ceremony, complete with an official pledge led by New Brunswick Mayor Jim Cahill. Wearing their new bright yellow safety patrol belts, the students agreed to perform their duties, set good examples, and lend a hand against bullying, among other commitments. Following the ceremony, Principal Gisela Ciancia thanked Mayor Cahill with a gift of a commemorative American flag, and presented a special award to New Brunswick Police Captain Michael Bobadilla for his support of the new officers.
