HUD-Action Plan Meetings to Be Accessible through Electronic Conferencing on June 11, 2020

The City of New Brunswick, as per the directive of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will hold one public meeting on Thursday, June 11th, 2020 at 4:30 PM via telephonic conferencing.

The nearly completed 2019-20 One Year Consolidated Action Plan in accordance with the January 5, 1995 Federal Register.  The purpose of the Consolidated Plan is to serve as a planning tool for States and local governments.

Notice is hereby given that the City of New Brunswick proposes to reallocate $60,000 of 2017 CDBG funds to a replacement activity to be amended to the 2017-2018 Consolidated Action Plan. The City of New Brunswick proposes to reallocate CDBG funds to fund Special Economic Development Activities such as Microloans and Microenterprise support. A public hearing regarding the proposed amendment will be held on Thursday, June 11th, 2020 at 5:00 PM via telephonic conferencing.

The proposed amendment will be available June 11, 2020 for review and comment to interested citizens on the City's website at:  https://www.cityofnewbrunswick.org/consolidatedactionplans

The City of New Brunswick will be holding a public meeting on its Five-Year Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing for the years 2019-2023 which is a supporting document for the Five-Year Consolidated Plan. The public meeting will begin on Thursday, June 11th, 2020 at 5:30 PM via telephonic conferencing.

 The City of New Brunswick will begin the first incremental year of its Five-Year Consolidated Plan on July 1, 2020.  The Five-Year Consolidated Plan for 2020-2024 is a guiding document which will help craft the subsequent Annual Action Plans. The One Year Action Plan prepared by the City discusses the City's plan for the use of federal, state, local and private monies which it expects to become available between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. The City anticipates receiving a grant of approximately $867,015 from HUD for the Community Development Block Grant Program during the period of applicability.  The City also anticipates receiving a grant of approximately $524,646 for participation in the HOME Program.  The goal of the HOME Program is to create public/private partnerships in order to develop projects to expand the supply of affordable housing and increase the number of families who can receive assistance in obtaining affordable housing. The public meeting will begin on Thursday, June 11th, 2020 at 6:00 PM via telephonic conferencing.

 The 2019-2023 Analysis of Impediments, the 2020-24 Five Year Consolidated Plan, and 2020-21 One Year Consolidated Plan will be available for review and comment to interested citizens on the City's website at:  https://www.cityofnewbrunswick.org/consolidatedactionplans

The Plan will be available beginning on the 11th of June 2020. All comments must be received by the Department of Planning, Community and Economic Development, in writing, no later than 32 days later (July 13, 2020). Same should be addressed to:
