New Executive Order Provides Additional Outdoor Music Guidelines for Restaurants and Taverns

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (August 21, 2020) - A new City of New Brunswick Executive Order (2020-05) took effect yesterday providing restaurant and tavern owners with additional guidelines on offering outdoor music to guests. The directives provide information on hours when outdoor music is permitted and on acceptable volume levels, which are measured in decibels.

The Executive Order is applicable to establishments on Albany Street between Easton Avenue and Neilson Street, and to restaurants and taverns located in non-residential zones.

Additionally, this Executive Order outlines special street closure plans for the period between Thursday August 27 at 2 p.m. and Sunday August 30 at 11 p.m. where George Street between Albany and Bayard Streets (excluding cross streets) will be closed to vehicle traffic for the duration. This will allow participating taverns and restaurants to expand their normal outdoor dining service hours.
