Advisory Issued Over Presence of Algal Bloom Observed in Farrington Lake

HABs2020Advisory8x11 FARRINGTON LAKE

The New Brunswick Water Department has posted an advisory due to the presence of a harmful algal bloom observed in Farrington Lake. The bloom creates a moderate health risk, and you are asked to keep children and pets away from areas where blooms are present.

According to the CDC website,  tiny plant-like organisms are more likely to grow out of control in rivers, lakes, and oceans during warm weather.

The New Brunswick Water Department continues to monitor the bloom. With numerous mitigation options, the bloom poses no current threat to the City's water supply.
