City Welcomes New Recycling Coordinator
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (October 23, 2020) – The City of New Brunswick is pleased to introduce Erin Maguire as the new Recycling Coordinator. Ms. Maguire joined the City workforce in early October and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position.
Ms. Maguire, a City resident, has been involved in the food advocacy and environmental education world for the past six years. Prior to her hire in New Brunswick, Erin has worked for the Greater Newark Conservancy, City Green Inc. in Clifton and Paterson, and the State of New Jersey’s Agriculture Department.
In addition to overseeing regular recycling and collection for New Brunswick, Ms. Maguire will also manage the brush recycling, used motor oil, leaf composting and Clean City Block programs, among others. She will also serve as the lead coordinator in the City’s collaborative efforts with Middlesex County for their household hazardous waste and residential paint disposal events.
She is a graduate of Rutgers University and holds a degree in Environmental Policy and a concentration in Food Systems.
Erin is excited to expand her environmental work into the fields of sustainability and waste management. “I have always been passionate about protecting the environment and I am very honored to take on the role of Recycling Coordinator,” she says. “I went to college in New Brunswick, and as a homeowner here, I’m so happy to give back to the place I call my home.”
Ms. Maguire will earn $50,500 annually in this position. She replaces Donna Caputo who served the City for a number of years in this capacity and was instrumental in the implementation and expansion of several successful programs.
