New Community Mural Lights Up Memorial Stadium

Officials from the City of New Brunswick and New Brunswick Public Schools unveiled a new student mural at Memorial Stadium on October 18.

A colorful new mural painted by our own students in New Brunswick Public Schools is now hanging at Memorial Stadium.

The piece, containing the words”Prepare, Empower, Inspire” came to be through a partnership with the City of New Brunswick and New Brunswick Public Schools. Art Club students from New Brunswick Middle School, New Brunswick High School and New Brunswick Health Science Technology High School planned and painted the colorful piece over the summer months, incorporating the district mascot of a zebra.

The mural was planned and painted over the summer and formally unveiled at its new home at Memorial Stadium on October 18. It can be seen at the main entrance to the stadium on Joyce Kilmer Avenue.

The mural is a part of our ongoing dedication to the redevelopment and re-energizing of our Citywide parks system, with plans for other public art projects taking shape for the future.

Grant funding for this program has been provided by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
