September is Hunger Action Month Help Feed Those in Need!
September is Hunger Action Month and our partners at MCFOODS are raising awareness of hunger in central New Jersey and asking community members to help feed those in need.
In Middlesex County, 79,140 people are food insecure, meaning they do not have consistent access to nutritious and affordable food, according to Feeding America.
M.C.F.O.O.D.S. partners with more than 100 hunger relief agencies throughout Middlesex County, including more than a dozen in New Brunswick. They’re encouraging all residents to observe #HungerActionMonth by making a donation to a local food bank, hosting a food drive or spreading information and awareness in their neighborhoods about the issue of hunger and what we can all do to help.
How Can I Get Involved?
The Feeding New Brunswick Network represents 26 food pantries serving New Brunswick residents, organized to better coordinate their efforts and communicate with City Administration to best meet the needs of their clients.
Volunteers can help the Feeding New Brunswick Network by volunteering at a a pantry or soup kitchen, making a donation to one of our local pantries or attending a meeting to join the conversation and help address hunger needs in our City.
M.C.F.O.O.D.S. is also accepting non-perishable food donations as well as monetary donations to aid in their County-wide efforts. To coordinate a donation or a food drive, contact M.C.F.O.O.D.S. at (609) 409-5033 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
