Rutgers University and the City of New Brunswick are partnering in ProjectMoveOut, a free bulk waste recycling initiative, to recover discarded furniture, appliances and textiles in order to keep these items out of landfills and reduce our carbon footprint.
ProjectMoveOut provides for FREE drop-off of bulk items for Rutgers students living/renting in New Brunswick. Drop-off will take place May 26 – May 29, 7:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. in Lot 30 (behind the College Avenue Student Center). Items eligible for drop off include:
- Appliances (refrigerators, window air conditioning units, microwaves)
- Electronics (televisions, video game consoles, cell phones, computers, monitors, printers)
- Furniture (mattresses, sofas, chairs, tables, book cases, desks, rugs)
Students must wear masks and bring RUID.

The Department of Public Works will have a drop-off available to ALL New Brunswick residents and property owners on Wednesday, May 20 and 27, and again on Wednesday, June 3 and June 10, from 10 A.M. - 2 P.M. at 400 Jersey Avenue.
