Urban Enterprise Zone
Parts of New Brunswick have been designated as an Urban Enterprise Zone by the State of New Jersey.
Qualified businesses can obtain benefits such as:

  • 50% sales tax reduction on some retail sales
  • 100% sales tax reduction on purchases made by the qualified business
  • Workforce training assistance

Micro-Lending Assistance

The Intersect Fund
provides micro-lending and business counseling
assistance to New Brunswick-based micro-enterprises. Loan funding is available from $500 to $10,000.

One Stop Shop Career Center
The one-stop career/job training assistance center is located at 550 Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick. 
The Center specializes in counseling and assistance to veterans, disabled individuals and persons over 55 years old.
Services are FREE. 
Core services include: job search assistance, resume writing, job placement assistance, career counseling, financial aid information and interviewing skills training.

NJEDA Financing
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority provides loans, loan guarantees, bond financing and other assistance to New Jersey businesses.  NJEDA’s core focus is small business financing (5-100 employees). Programs are also available to assist businesses in critical industries, inclucing:

  • Women and minority-owned businesses
  • Technology and life sciences
  • Manufacturing
  • Logistics, including warehousing, distribution and port operations
  • Financial services
  • Arts, culture, and tourism
  • Retail
