The Community Development Program administers the federal HOME Investment Partnership and CDBG block grant programs and projects, and administers the City’s Regional Contribution Agreements. These programs and projects are used to assist low-income persons, families and neighborhoods in New Brunswick.
The types of programs and projects typically include:
- Fair housing counseling services
- Owner-occupied housing rehabilitation
- Assistance for new construction of affordable housing and supportive needs housing
New Brunswick receives an annual allocation of funding from the federal government each year for the HOME and CDBG programs.

Proposed amendment to the PY 2019-2020 One-Year Annual Action Plan is available HERE. The amendments will indicate acceptance and use of CDBG-CV funds for assistance with COVID-19.

The City of New Brunswick has completed its 2019-20 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER). Copies of this report will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Newark Area Office, on or about December 31, 2020.
This report is available for review to interested citizens at the Office of Community Development, 25 Kirkpatrick Street, New Brunswick, N.J. 08903-0269 by appointment or by email beginning December 17, 2020. Please email all requests to firstname.lastname@example.org on or after December 17, 2020.
Written comments on the report must be received by the Office of Community Development no later than December 31, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.
