Women Aware Opens NJ's 1st Domestic Violence Supportive Needs Housing Assisted w/ City's HOME Funds
In 2013, Women Aware opened New Jersey’s first supportive needs housing project for domestic violence survivors. The 3-unit project is an example of how New Brunswick uses HOME and other affordable housing funding to create new housing opportunities in the city and to address critical housing needs.
The units provide permanent housing for survivors of domestic violence so that they can add stability back into their lives and the lives of their children. The City assisted developing this project by providing a grant of HOME funds. Additional funds were provided by NJHMFA and Bergen County United Way.
